TCA
How can I make a person with anorexia understand that they have this disorder if they deny it?
A common characteristic of eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia is a lack of awareness of the disorder and, consequently, a lack of motivation to recover. If the affected person persistently denies that anything is wrong, it's advisable not to pressure them. They will eventually realize it through certain symptoms, such as mood swings, a lack of desire to socialize with friends, or a lack of energy for activities they previously enjoyed. We can help them emotionally by communicating with them and trying to understand what's going on, always remembering that problems with food are just the tip of the iceberg.
